Mercedes-Benz Collision Repair — San Fernando Valley

XP Auto Center is not a Mercedes-Benz certified shop. We are an I-CAR Gold Class collision center that repairs Mercedes-Benz vehicles to OEM specification, we write estimates with Genuine Mercedes-Benz Parts because MBUSA does not approve aftermarket, and we scan and calibrate in-house per Mercedes’ own position statements.

Honest positioning

No Mercedes certification — but we work to Mercedes’ published standard

Mercedes-Benz USA runs its own certified collision program and we are not in it. We say that plainly on this page because the alternative — implying a certification we do not hold — would be both dishonest and, for a shop, legally reckless. What we hold is I-CAR Gold Class certification, the collision industry’s top training tier, and licensed access to manufacturer repair procedures through ALLDATA and Mitchell, which is where Mercedes’ published body repair data, weld and sectioning specifications, and position statements live.

Mercedes’ position statements are unusually direct, and they shape how we write every Mercedes estimate. On parts, MBUSA’s Genuine Replacement Parts position statement states that the use of aftermarket parts is not approved by MBUSA, on the grounds that overall safety could be compromised because those parts are not subject to Mercedes’ testing and certification. MBUSA strongly recommends that repairs be performed by a certified technician using only Genuine Mercedes-Benz Parts. So we write Genuine Parts, cite the statement when the carrier objects, and let you decide with full information rather than quietly substituting.

On diagnostics, Mercedes highly recommends pre-repair scans and states that post-repair scanning is necessary on models from 1996 onward, listing vehicle collisions regardless of the appearance of damage, and windshield replacement, among the triggering events. We scan every Mercedes at intake before writing the estimate and again before delivery. Where we stop: high-voltage battery pack service on EQ models, and structural damage extending into the battery enclosure or its mounting structure. Those go to Mercedes, and we will tell you so at the estimate.

Class by class

Mercedes-Benz models we repair

C-Class & E-Class

The most common Mercedes sedans in our shop. Front and rear bumper systems, fenders, quarter panels, and full driver-assistance recalibration after front-clip work. Both use significant aluminum content in the closures.

GLC, GLE & GLB

Mercedes’ volume SUVs and our steadiest Mercedes work. Rear liftgate and bumper damage from parking structures, side-impact rocker and quarter work, and rear radar re-aim for blind-spot assist.

S-Class & GLS

Aluminum-intensive, sensor-dense flagships. These carry the largest calibration workloads of anything Mercedes builds — surround-view, forward radar and camera, rear radars, and on air-suspension cars a ride-height reset before any calibration.

A-Class, CLA & GLA

Entry models, heavily represented among younger drivers across the Valley. Bumper covers, fenders, and headlamp assemblies dominate. Parts are more affordable here than elsewhere in the lineup.

AMG models

Wider bodies, unique aluminum and composite panels, and AMG-specific part numbers that are not interchangeable with the standard car. Carbon aero components are replaced, not repaired. We verify part fitment against the VIN, always.

EQE, EQS & EQB

High-voltage EVs. Documented HV disable and isolation testing before disassembly. We handle body, panel and refinish work to OEM specification; battery pack service and damage into the enclosure go to Mercedes.

What Mercedes owners bring us

Most common Mercedes-Benz collision repairs

Front bumper systems and radar

A modern Mercedes front bumper is a sensor platform: forward radar behind the star, ultrasonic sensors across the cover, a camera in the grille on surround-view cars, and active grille shutters. A parking-speed hit that barely scuffs the paint can still knock the radar bracket out of tolerance. We scan, replace to spec, and calibrate on a target board with a documented pass.

Aluminum closures and panel work

C-Class through S-Class use aluminum hoods, fenders, doors and deck lids in varying amounts. Aluminum needs a segregated bay with dedicated tooling — steel contamination triggers galvanic corrosion that surfaces as paint blistering long after the repair. We keep the metals separated and work inside Mercedes’ published heat and strain limits.

Air suspension and ride-height reset

AIRMATIC and E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL vehicles must be returned to correct ride height before any ADAS calibration, because every camera and radar aim reference is relative to the car’s attitude. Calibrating a Mercedes sitting at the wrong height produces a system that passes the procedure and reads the road wrong. Sequence matters, and we follow it.

Genuine parts sourcing and supplements

Because MBUSA does not approve aftermarket parts, most Mercedes estimates require at least one supplement to convert an insurer’s aftermarket line items to Genuine Parts. We do this as routine work, with the position statement attached. It also protects your diminished value position later.

Insurance handling

MBUSA does not approve aftermarket parts — and that is written down

This is the central insurance issue on every Mercedes claim, and it is winnable. MBUSA’s Genuine Replacement Parts position statement is explicit that aftermarket parts are not approved and that safety could be compromised because those parts have not been through Mercedes’ testing and certification. When an insurer writes an aftermarket fender or bumper cover, we attach that statement to the supplement. In our experience it gets corrected more often than not.

The second recurring item is scan and calibration time. Mercedes highly recommends pre-repair scanning and considers post-repair scanning necessary on 1996-and-newer models, including after any collision regardless of how the damage looks and after windshield replacement. We cite it, we bill it, and we document the result in your file.

You choose the shop, not your carrier — California Insurance Code §758.5. We are an Allstate Direct Repair Program partner and bill directly to Geico, State Farm, Progressive, Farmers, Mercury, AAA, Liberty Mutual, Nationwide, and USAA. Independent OEM-specification repair on a Mercedes typically comes in well under certified-network pricing on comparable damage, and we will show you the itemized comparison in writing.

Mercedes-Benz repair FAQ

Questions Mercedes owners ask us

Are you a Mercedes-Benz certified collision center?

No. MBUSA operates its own certified program and XP Auto Center is not part of it. We are an I-CAR Gold Class certified collision center that repairs Mercedes-Benz vehicles to OEM specification, using licensed manufacturer repair data, Genuine Mercedes-Benz Parts, aluminum-capable equipment, and in-house diagnostic scanning and ADAS calibration.

Will you put aftermarket parts on my Mercedes if my insurer asks?

Not without telling you exactly what that means and pushing back first. MBUSA’s own position statement says aftermarket parts are not approved and that safety could be compromised because they have not been through Mercedes’ testing and certification. We write Genuine Parts, attach the statement to the supplement, and if a carrier still refuses on a non-structural component, we give you the decision in writing. We will not substitute quietly.

What Mercedes work do you refer out?

High-voltage battery pack service on EQE, EQS and EQB, and any structural damage extending into the battery enclosure or its mounting structure. We also refer out certain aluminum space-frame structural operations on older SL and SLS models where Mercedes restricts the procedure. We identify these at the estimate, not after teardown.

Does Mercedes require a scan after a windshield replacement?

Mercedes’ position statement on diagnostic repairs following a collision specifically lists windshield replacement as a triggering event, and states that post-repair scanning is necessary on 1996-and-newer models. The reason is that the forward camera mounts to the glass — replace the glass without recalibrating and the camera is looking at a different angle than the system assumes. We scan and calibrate as standard.

How much does a Mercedes GLC rear bumper replacement cost in 2026?

A GLC rear bumper cover replacement with Genuine Parts, refinish, and reinstallation of the parking sensors typically runs $2,100 to $3,400. Rear radar recalibration for blind-spot and cross-traffic alert adds roughly $350 to $600. If the absorber, reinforcement bar, or a power liftgate component is damaged, expect $4,000 or more. We quote from your VIN and actual damage photos.

Why does my Mercedes need its ride height reset before calibration?

Because AIRMATIC and E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL cars sit at a software-controlled height, and every camera and radar aim specification is defined relative to the vehicle’s designed attitude. If the car is sitting low or nose-high when calibration runs, the procedure will complete successfully and the sensors will still be aimed wrong. Ride height first, calibration second — that order is not optional and a lot of shops get it backwards.
