Honda ProFirst Certification

Why Honda ProFirst certification matters for your repair

Honda ProFirst is the only collision-repair certification issued directly by American Honda Motor Co. To earn it, a body shop has to prove three things to Honda auditors: the right equipment, the right trained technicians, and the right processes. Fewer than 2% of the collision shops in California hold it.

Practically, this changes what happens to your car. A non-ProFirst shop can absolutely repair a Honda — but they’re working from generic OEM procedures, sourcing parts from wherever their insurance-approved supplier is cheapest, and skipping the manufacturer position statements that specify things like weld locations and adhesive types. On a modern Honda with structural steel bonding, aluminum hoods, and ADAS sensor calibration requirements, “close enough” isn’t close enough. The wrong weld on a Civic subframe can turn a fixable car into a permanent total loss on the next collision.

At XP Auto Center, every Honda that comes through our doors gets repaired to Honda’s exact factory specification. That’s what the certification requires — and it’s what our lifetime workmanship warranty is built on.

Every Honda, every Acura

Honda models we repair

Sedans

Civic, Accord, Insight, and the Civic Si/Type R performance variants. Our most common repairs — bumpers, fenders, quarter panels, and rear-end collision damage from freeway stop-and-go.

SUVs & Crossovers

HR-V, CR-V, Passport, and Pilot. Higher-clearance repairs, side-impact intrusion work, and the aluminum front-clip work Passport and Pilot require post-2019.

Minivans & Trucks

Odyssey and Ridgeline. Odyssey sliding-door damage is one of our specialties — we repair the track, replace the door, and recalibrate the pinch sensors to Honda spec.

Hybrid & Electric

Accord Hybrid, CR-V Hybrid, and the new Prologue EV. High-voltage-safe procedures required — our technicians are trained to Honda’s HV safety standard.

Acura (all models)

ILX, TLX, RDX, MDX, Integra, and NSX. Same ProFirst certification, same factory parts pipeline. NSX aluminum work requires our aluminum-certified welders.

Older & discontinued

Element, Fit, S2000, Prelude, del Sol, older Civic and Accord generations. We still get factory-spec repair data through our Honda Tech Info Portal subscription.

What we see every week

Most common Honda collision repairs

Rear-end bumper damage

The most common claim we see on Civics, Accords, and CR-Vs. Bumper cover replacement, reinforcement inspection, parking-sensor recalibration, and — on 2018+ Hondas — Honda Sensing camera and radar re-aim. Typical turnaround: 3-5 business days.

Front-end collision

Hood replacement, fender work, radiator support repair, and A/C condenser replacement. Modern Honda hoods are aluminum — welded steel replacements will get flagged by any inspector. We use factory aluminum parts and rivet-bond structural repairs to Honda spec.

Quarter panel replacement

T-bone impacts on Civics and Accords typically damage the quarter panel and rocker. Honda’s factory procedure specifies weld locations, adhesive type, and structural foam application. We follow it — even when the insurance estimator says “just weld it on”.

Airbag deployment repair

Full SRS system replacement, seatbelt pretensioner reset, dash and steering-wheel airbag replacement, and Honda SRS diagnostic scan. Every airbag repair on a Honda requires a factory scan-clear procedure before delivery — we’ve had cars towed to us from other shops that skipped it.

Insurance handling

Every insurer accepts a Honda ProFirst shop

Under California Insurance Code §758.5, you have the legal right to choose any licensed body shop — and if the shop is manufacturer-certified, most insurers will accept the estimate without pushback. We’re an Allstate Direct Repair Program (DRP) partner, which streamlines the process for Allstate customers, and we do direct billing with Geico, State Farm, Progressive, Farmers, Mercury, AAA, Liberty Mutual, Nationwide, and USAA.

When an insurer’s photo estimate comes in low — especially on Honda ADAS calibration line items or aluminum panel work — we file a supplement with the American Honda position statement attached. It usually gets approved. When it doesn’t, we advocate for you all the way to the state DOI complaint stage if needed. That’s rare, but it’s happened.

Honda repair FAQ

Questions Honda owners ask us

Is XP Auto Center Honda-certified?

Yes. We hold Honda ProFirst Certification, which means American Honda Motor Co. has audited our facility, equipment, and technician training and approved us to perform structural and safety-critical repairs to factory specification on Honda and Acura vehicles. We have direct access to Honda’s OEM parts pipeline and repair procedures.

Which Honda models do you repair?

Every Honda model sold in the US — Civic, Accord, CR-V, HR-V, Pilot, Passport, Odyssey, Ridgeline, Insight, and the hybrid and Type R variants. We also service every Acura model under the same ProFirst certification: ILX, TLX, RDX, MDX, Integra, and NSX.

Will you use OEM Honda parts on my repair?

As a Honda ProFirst shop, OEM parts are our default. Some insurance policies allow aftermarket or reconditioned parts on non-structural components — if that applies to your claim we’ll walk you through the tradeoffs and, when needed, file a supplement to get OEM parts approved. Structural and safety components (rails, airbag sensors, ADAS cameras) always get OEM per Honda’s position statement.

How long does a Honda collision repair take at XP?

A typical bumper replacement on a Civic or Accord is 3-5 business days. A quarter panel replacement with paint blend runs 7-10 days. Full frame repair with airbag deployment and ADAS recalibration is 3-4 weeks depending on parts availability. We give you a written timeline with the estimate.

Do you handle Honda insurance claims directly?

Yes. We do direct billing with every major insurer including Allstate (we’re a DRP partner), Geico, State Farm, Progressive, Farmers, Mercury, AAA, Liberty Mutual, Nationwide, and USAA. For Allstate customers the process is fastest since we’re already integrated. For everyone else we still handle estimates, supplements, and rental car coordination end-to-end.

What areas do you serve for Honda repair?

Our shop is at 1235 Truman Street in San Fernando. We serve Honda owners across the northeast San Fernando Valley including San Fernando, Sylmar, Pacoima, Mission Hills, Panorama City, Arleta, Lake View Terrace, Sun Valley, Sunland-Tujunga, Granada Hills, and Northridge.
