The 2025 Camry changed the repair equation completely
For twenty years the Camry was the definition of a predictable repair: steel unibody, cheap parts, no electronics to speak of. That ended in stages. The XV70 generation (2018-2024) brought the TNGA-K platform, significantly more high-strength steel in the safety cage, and Toyota Safety Sense as standard equipment on every trim. From that point forward, a Camry front bumper job is a calibration job as well as a body job, and a shop that reinstalls the radar and hands you the keys has not finished the repair.
The ninth-generation XV80 Camry, launched for the 2025 model year, went further: it is the first Camry in the model’s history offered exclusively as a hybrid. Every 2025-and-newer Camry in your driveway is a high-voltage vehicle. That means a documented high-voltage disable and isolation verification before any structural disassembly, high-voltage cable routing awareness during panel replacement, and no cutting or welding near the HV harness runs. It also means the repair takes longer and costs more than the 2022 equivalent, and any shop telling you otherwise has not read the procedure.
We are not in Toyota’s certified program and we will not claim to be. What we do is work from Toyota’s published documentation — including Collision Repair Information Bulletin 191, which states that a capable scan tool is the only way to identify and document diagnostic trouble codes and that a Health Check scan is necessary before and after every collision repair. We run that scan on every Camry, print it, and put it in your file.
Camry model years and what they share
2025-2026 (XV80, 9th gen)
Hybrid only — every car is a high-voltage vehicle requiring documented HV disable before structural work. All-new sheet metal; nothing interchanges with XV70. Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 with a wider sensing envelope and correspondingly stricter calibration requirements.
2021-2024 (XV70 facelift)
The 2021 restyle changed the front bumper, grille and lamps. A 2020 front cover will not fit a 2021 car. Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ standard. Hybrid and TRD variants use unique fascias and part numbers.
2018-2020 (XV70 early)
TNGA-K platform, much stiffer structure with more ultra-high-strength steel than the previous generation. Toyota Safety Sense P standard. This is our single highest-volume Camry generation by repair count.
2012-2017 (XV50)
Steel unibody, minimal ADAS, and the 2015 facelift changed nearly all exterior sheet metal — 2012-2014 and 2015-2017 parts largely do not interchange. Inexpensive repairs with an excellent recycled-parts market.
2007-2011 (XV40)
Still extremely common across Pacoima, Sylmar and San Fernando. Cheap panels, wide used-parts availability, and the generation where a smart repair plan most often saves a car from an unnecessary total loss.
Camry Hybrid (all years) & TRD
Hybrids from 2007 onward require HV safety procedure before disassembly. TRD models add a unique body kit, rear spoiler and part numbers. We verify fitment against the VIN rather than the model year alone.
Common Camry damage and what it costs
Rear-end damage — $700 to $2,400
The Camry’s defining claim. Stop-and-go on the 5, 210, and 118 produces a steady stream of rear-ended Camrys. Bumper cover and refinish on an XV70 runs roughly $700 to $1,300; add absorber, reinforcement, trunk floor work and rear sensor calibration and it reaches $2,400. Turnaround 3-5 business days. See rear-end collision repair.
Front-end collision — $2,600 to $8,000
Hood, fenders, grille, radiator support, condenser, and the TSS forward camera and radar. On 2025+ hybrid-only cars, add HV disable, isolation testing, and careful routing checks around the high-voltage harness — which is why the same visual damage costs meaningfully more on an XV80 than an XV70.
Quarter panel and rocker — $3,000 to $5,500
Side impacts at Valley intersections. Toyota publishes sectioning locations and weld specifications per model, and certain ultra-high-strength grades in the XV70 and XV80 safety cage cannot be heated or straightened at all — they are sectioned at defined points or replaced. We pull the procedure rather than improvise.
Hail, sun damage and parking dings — $200 to $1,800
The Valley’s real everyday damage. Clear-coat failure on older Camrys from years of San Fernando sun, plus shopping-center door dings. Many are paintless dent repair candidates at a fraction of conventional bodywork cost, and clear-coat failure is a refinish question — see our paint cost page.
Camry claims get the most aggressive parts substitution of any car
The Camry is the highest-volume midsize sedan in the country, which makes it the most heavily commoditized car in insurance estimating software. Expect aftermarket bumper covers, reconditioned lamps, imitation hoods, and deleted scan and calibration lines on the first estimate. We will tell you honestly when a specific aftermarket cosmetic part is genuinely fine — some are. What we will not accept is a substitution on structure, on an airbag sensor, or on any component that carries or aims a Toyota Safety Sense sensor.
Toyota’s CRIB 191 Health Check guidance is our documentation for putting pre- and post-repair scan lines back on the estimate, and it works. California Insurance Code §758.5 protects your right to choose this shop. We are an Allstate Direct Repair Program partner and bill directly to Geico, State Farm, Progressive, Farmers, Mercury, AAA, Liberty Mutual, Nationwide, and USAA.
One Camry-specific note: because Camrys hold resale value unusually well, a structurally repaired newer Camry carries a real, measurable resale loss. That is recoverable from the at-fault driver’s carrier — read our California diminished value page before you sign a release.

Questions Camry owners ask us
Is every 2025 Camry a hybrid?
Yes. The ninth-generation XV80 Camry, launched for 2025, is the first Camry offered exclusively as a hybrid — there is no non-hybrid version. For repair purposes that means every 2025-and-newer Camry is a high-voltage vehicle requiring documented HV disable and isolation verification before structural disassembly. It also means the same visual damage costs more and takes longer than it would on a 2023 car.
Will 2020 Camry parts fit my 2021?
Front-end parts, generally no. The XV70 Camry was restyled for 2021, changing the front bumper cover, grille, and lamp assemblies. Rear and side panels largely carry over. The bigger trap is 2024 versus 2025: the XV80 is an entirely new body and essentially nothing interchanges. We order every part off the VIN.
How much is a Camry front bumper replacement in 2026?
For an XV70 Camry, a front bumper cover replacement with OEM parts, refinish, and sensor reinstallation typically runs $1,100 to $1,900. Add Toyota Safety Sense forward radar and camera recalibration and it moves to roughly $1,500 to $2,400. Grille, absorber, or reinforcement damage pushes it toward $3,200. XV80 cars run higher due to newer part pricing.
Does my Camry need a scan even though the damage looks minor?
Toyota’s own guidance says yes. Collision Repair Information Bulletin 191 states that a capable scan tool is the only way to identify and document diagnostic trouble codes, and that a Health Check scan before and after repair is necessary when a vehicle has sustained collision damage. Minor-looking impacts routinely knock a rear radar module offline or throw a stability control sensor out of range. We scan at intake, before writing the estimate.
My older Camry’s clear coat is peeling on the roof and hood. Is that a body shop job?
Yes, and it is common on San Fernando Valley cars — years of direct sun break down the clear coat, especially on horizontal surfaces. It is not a wax-and-polish problem; once the clear has failed, the only real fix is sanding back and refinishing the affected panels. We can do individual panels rather than the whole car if the rest of the finish is sound. Our paint cost page walks through the options and pricing.
Is a Camry Hybrid more expensive to repair than a gas Camry?
Yes, moderately, and for legitimate reasons. Every job starts with a documented high-voltage disable and isolation verification. High-voltage cable routing constrains where we can cut, weld, and drill during panel and structural work. And the hybrid battery and its enclosure have to be inspected after any significant impact. Expect roughly 10-20% more labor time on comparable damage, plus the inspection. We itemize it so you can see exactly what the difference buys.
